Wrypa Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2025

Wrypa ("we" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect from users of our developer portfolio and productivity platform, how we use and store that data, and the rights you have regarding your personal information.

We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly how your information is handled. This policy covers all aspects of our data practices, from what we collect to how we protect it. If you have any questions after reading this policy, please don't hesitate to contact us.

A. Information We Collect

We collect information in several ways: some you provide directly when using our service, and some we collect automatically to improve your experience and ensure the platform works properly.

A.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, username, and encrypted password. This information is necessary to create and maintain your account.
  • Profile Information: You may choose to provide additional information for your developer portfolio, such as your professional title, bio, skills, education, work experience, and contact information. This information helps you create a comprehensive portfolio.
  • Portfolio Content: Any projects, descriptions, images, achievements, certifications, and other content you add to your portfolio. This content is what makes your portfolio unique and showcases your work.
  • Development Logs: Daily development activities, progress tracking, notes, and any other information you choose to log about your development work.
  • Communication: When you contact us for support or feedback, we collect the information you provide in those communications.

A.2 Information from Third-Party Integrations

  • GitHub Integration: When you connect your GitHub account (with your explicit permission), we may access your GitHub profile data, public repositories, commit history, and contribution activity. We only access what you specifically authorize us to access.
  • LinkedIn Integration: When you connect your LinkedIn account (with your explicit permission), we may access your LinkedIn profile information (name, headline, profile photo), professional information (current position, work experience, education), email address (if you grant permission), and public profile URL. Note that LinkedIn Sign In does not verify user identities, and email information is optional and may not always be available.
  • OAuth Providers: If you sign up or log in using third-party services (like GitHub or LinkedIn), we receive basic profile information from those services, such as your name and email address. The scope of information varies by provider and your permission settings.

A.3 Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Information about how you use Wrypa, including pages visited, features used, time spent on the platform, and interaction patterns. This helps us understand how to improve the service.
  • Device and Technical Information: Your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen resolution. This information helps us ensure the platform works well across different devices and browsers.
  • Analytics Data: We use analytics tools to understand user behavior, measure performance, and identify areas for improvement. This data is typically aggregated and anonymized.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and analytics. See our Cookie Policy for detailed information.

B. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for specific, legitimate purposes that benefit you and help us provide and improve our service:

  • Platform Services: To provide and maintain your developer portfolio, development tracking, and all core features of Wrypa. This includes displaying your content, managing your account, and enabling portfolio sharing.
  • Account Management: To authenticate your identity, manage your account settings, provide customer support, and ensure account security.
  • AI-Powered Features: To generate development logs from your GitHub commit history using AI services. Your commit data may be processed by third-party AI providers (like OpenAI) for this purpose, but we don't store your data permanently with these services.
  • Professional Portfolio Enhancement: To automatically populate and synchronize professional information in your portfolio using LinkedIn data, including work experience, education, and current position. This helps maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive professional profile.
  • Analytics and Improvement: To analyze how our platform is used, identify bugs and performance issues, and improve user experience. This helps us make Wrypa better for everyone.
  • Communication: To send you important service updates, security notifications, feature announcements, and respond to your support requests. We won't send you marketing emails unless you specifically opt in.
  • Legal and Security: To comply with legal obligations, protect against fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

C. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We are very careful about when and how we share your information. Here's exactly when we might share your data:

C.1 Public Information

Your portfolio is designed to be publicly accessible to showcase your work to potential employers, clients, or collaborators. This includes any information you choose to make public in your portfolio, such as your profile information, projects, skills, and achievements. You have full control over what information is displayed publicly.

C.2 Service Providers and Partners

  • GitHub: We access your GitHub data only with your explicit permission and only for the purposes you've authorized (like syncing repositories or generating logs).
  • LinkedIn: We access your LinkedIn data only with your explicit permission and only for authorized purposes (like populating professional information in your portfolio). LinkedIn data is stored separately and can be deleted independently. You can withdraw LinkedIn access consent at any time through your account settings.
  • AI Services (OpenAI): Your commit data may be processed by AI services to generate development logs. We implement appropriate safeguards and don't store your data permanently with these services.
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS): We use Amazon Web Services for hosting and data storage, with appropriate security measures and data protection agreements.
  • Analytics Providers: We may share aggregated, anonymized usage data with analytics providers to help us understand platform usage and improve our service.

C.3 Legal Requirements and Safety

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe it's necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wrypa, our users, or the public. We will notify you of such requests unless prohibited by law.

C.4 Business Transfers

If Wrypa is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Important: We never sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes, and we never share your private development logs or portfolio content without your explicit consent.

D. Data Security and Protection

We take the security of your data seriously and implement multiple layers of protection:

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols. Sensitive data is also encrypted at rest in our databases.
  • Access Controls: We implement strict access controls and authentication mechanisms. Only authorized personnel have access to user data, and access is logged and monitored.
  • Infrastructure Security: Our servers and databases are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with robust security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and regular security updates.
  • Regular Audits: We conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and address potential security issues.
  • Data Backup and Recovery: We maintain regular backups of your data with secure storage and tested recovery procedures to protect against data loss.
  • Incident Response: We have procedures in place for handling security breaches, including immediate containment, investigation, and user notification when appropriate.

While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication when available.
